Composition Notes
In this piece for solo piano, I tried to evoke the sensation of a cool mist floating through the winter air. Prior to composing, I did a short study of several songs by Debussy whose influence is evident in the style of the piece. “Winter Mist” was commissioned by the Victoria Conservatory’s Piano Summer School, and was the first music commission I had ever received. It was composed on March 26, 1997 at the age of 17.
